Chile, 1973, un sangriento golpe militar derrocó al gobierno constitucional de Salvador Allende. Se detuvo a miles de personas, muchos de ellos fueron torturados y asesinados. En medio del terror, el embajador de Suecia se opone a la injusticia; más fuerte que la diplomacia, los derechos humanos prevalecen. El documental rescata la historia de Harald Edelstam, embajador de Suecia en Chile en 1973, que intercedió y logró salvar la vida de al menos un millar de personas, entre chilenos, uruguayos, brasileños, argentinos, bolivianos, venezolanos y peruanos. Entrevistas con uruguayos y brasileños exiliados en Chile en 1973, salvados por Edelstam, y a Belela Herrera, ex funcionaria del Alto Comisionado de Naciones Unidas.
