Mario Arguello, es uno de los 26 presos políticos que el 19 de octubre de 1973 fueron sacados desde la Cárcel de Calama para ser asesinados, al mando del General Sergio Arellano Stark. Los antecedentes fueron dados a conocer por el arzobispo de Antofagasta, Carlos Oviedo, sobre el lugar donde estaban enterrados los 26 fusilados.
