El 22 de noviembre de 1979, se realizan los funerales de las víctimas de Laja y San Rosendo acompañados por una liturgia presidida por monseñor Alejandro Goic. Los cuerpos de las 18 víctimas habían sido exhumadas el 2 de octubre pasado desde el Cementerio Parroquial de Yumbel, en circunstancias que su condición era de detenidos desaparecidos, ya que habían sido detenidas por carabineros de la Subcomisaría de Laja entre el 13 y el 17 de septiembre de 1973, desconociendo su paradero desde entonces.
