Sergio Alfonso Reyes Navarrete, economista, casado, militante del MIR, fue detenido el 16 de noviembre de 1974 en su departamento por agentes de la DINA comandados por Osvaldo Romo Mena. Su nombre apareció en revistas extranjeras (publicaciones que editaron un sólo número) en una nómina de 119 chilenos presuntamente muertos en el extranjero en luchas internas entre grupos de izquierda. Hasta la actualidad no se ha encontrado su cuerpo.
